Casting Notice for a showcase performance of Love Songs from
the Liberation Wars
Auditions to be held Thursday, April 24, 7pm-10pm and Friday, April 25, 12pm-3pm.
A showcase performance of Love Songs from the Liberation Wars, a jazz opera, will take place on June 28th, 2025 at NCMA Winston-Salem’s McChesney Scott Dunn Auditorium.
We will need 5 cast members:
1) African American woman, age 20-50, to play 4 characters: Theo/Moranda/Geneva/Emma tobacco workers and union organizers.
2) African American woman, age 20-50, to play 2 characters: Ruby/Joanne tobacco workers and union organizers.
3) White male, age 30-60, to play R.J. Reynolds/Foreman/fictionalized “Jim Crow”.
4) White male, age 20-50, to play Slim/Karl Korstad/Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie
5) African American male, age 20-50, to play Buck/James McCardle/Isaac/Paul Robeson /Justice of the Peace
This is a paid job (details TBD). Rehearsal by Zoom once-per-week in May; in-person rehearsals, 6 evenings in June leading up to the Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, June 26 and June 28 performance.
