About this event

Iva is a seamstress in an Italian-owned, Bulgarian garment factory who drudges through work while suffering COVID symptoms because the management denies her sick leave. When she becomes the first in town to get the virus, she faces the wrath of everyone. Ultimately, Iva’s story is that of workers in many poor, post-Soviet countries who make up the source of cheap labor that enriches core European Union nations and busts the myth of the “European dream.”
