Cleveland Public Library Avoids Strike (For Now) With Tentative Agreement

A tentative collective bargaining agreement has been reached between the Cleveland Public Libary and its union workers, the library announced Monday, Aug. 24. The agreement led to the cancellation of a strike that was set to start at noon.

According to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) District 1199 workers were preparing to strike over pay, healthcare and safer working conditions.

The strike is now delayed until Thursday, Aug. 27, according to the union.

Last week, the union announced it was preparing to strike after failing to come to an agreement with its employer following nearly a year of bargaining and dozens of negotiating sessions.
