The Communications Workers Of America’s United Videogame Workers expressed surprise Thursday at appearing on Fast Company’s annual “Most Innovative Companies of 2026 gaming list since, in their words, “we're not a company.”
In its article Fast Company says United Videogame Workers “has found an audience. Within a few weeks of launch—which coincided with the annual Gaming Development Conference, it signed on 445 members, with membership totaling 540 by the beginning of 2026. It’s just one of the ways CWA is strengthening workers’ rights in the video game sector. The union also helped more than 400 designers, engineers and testers within Activision Blizzard’s platform and technology department—an effort parent company Microsoft recognized.”
“We are game workers demanding dignity in an industry that treats us as disposable,” United Videogame Workers said on Blue Sky, “even from the companies represented [on Fast Company’s list.]”
