Labor and Allies Solidarity Night at the KC this Thursday

Chris Garlock | Published on 5/28/2025

Workers at the Kennedy Center have launched a unionization effort under the name KC United Arts Workers and are preparing for a key certification election. In response, DC-area labor and community allies are organizing Labor and Allies Solidarity Night at the KC, a show of support at a special Solidarity Night on Thursday, May 29. The event coincides with a performance of Porgy and Bess, offering a visible and unified presence inside the Kennedy Center.

Details:

  • Date: Thursday, May 29
  • Time: Gather at 7:00 PM for a 7:30 PM performance
  • Location: Kennedy Center, 2700 F St NW, Washington, DC
  • Tickets: Start at $45 and are available through the Kennedy Center box office or by calling (202) 467-4600

Attendees from the labor movement are encouraged to wear union gear. All other supporters are asked to wear red in solidarity. The action is supported by Patrons for the Kennedy Center, a grassroots group advocating for the workers, artists, and values that sustain the institution. “We wholeheartedly endorse this unionizing effort and want to do everything in our power to help the workers,” says PKC. “As the workers fight inside, we will be their strongest advocates outside.”
