For 70 years Pete Seeger has applied his music on behalf of every great social movement of the 20th century: labor, civil rights, environmental,
women’s, equality, peace & freedom; and at 90 he’s still at it!! His early work with Woody Guthrie and the Almanac Singers offered crucial support to the CIO organizing drives and on behalf of workers fighting for a better living. He continued this work in support of organized labor throughout his entire career. But his most enduring legacy is that of getting people to sing together, whether it be 3rd graders or people at his concerts he can always get people singing. Pete Seeger is a founding member of the board of directors of the Labor Heritage Foundation and he donated his talents at our first two fundraising concerts, and two years ago he donated his talents to the first fundraising concert for The CultureWorks Collective, a project of the Labor Heritage Foundation. We owe Pete a debt of gratitude, and all our love goes out to him on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
