About this event

Discover Pullman's dramatic labor story from the people who lived it.

Come walk the historic grounds where collective action made history.  This guided tour brings you into the world of workers who built the town, powered the railroads, and sparked a nationwide movement for change.

George Pullman's grand vision offered beautiful homes, tidy streets, and modern amenities- but also high rents, strict rules, and zero democratic say.  When a national recession hit, tensions boiled over.  Pullman workers walked out, launching a strike that shut down railroads across the country and forever reshaped the American labor movement.

On this tour, you'll explore the places where these historic events unfolded and hear the real stories of struggle, solidarity, and courage.  It's a powerful look at how ordinary people stood up, spoke out, and changed the nation.

Co-sponsored by the Illinois Labor History Society and the Friends of Pullman National Historical Park.
