			About this event
Protest is a staple of life in Washington, from debates over slavery in the early days of the republic to contemporary clashes with ICE and the National Guard in our neighborhoods. The Kalmanovitz Initiative invites you to join Gloria J. Browne-Marshall (professor of law and Africana studies, John Jay College, CUNY) in a discussion on the significance of protest in American society, with particular focus on labor rights and unions.
Professor Browne-Marshall is also an Emmy Award-winning writer, social justice attorney, an activist, a film producer, and a playwright. She is the author of five books, including The Voting Rights Warand She Took Justice: The Black Woman, Law, and Power.
